Grief Counseling Offered

Beginning in February 2007, VMSG will offer a Grief Counseling program to all who are struggling in different ways with the loss of their pet. Dr. Kathleen Ayl will be heading up the program.

Dr. Ayl will ensure that you receive the tools and emotional support needed to face a life threatening diagnosis, or the devastating loss of your loved one.

Losing a companion animal or caring for one who is suffering from a terminal illness can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, guilt, isolation, loneliness, and feelings of being completely overwhelmed. You might even begin to question yourself and believe that you are going "crazy."

Our program offers you the ability to relate to others who have shared the same experience. It provides you with the tools you'll need to restore your sense of inner peace. It can help you normalize your feelings as you learn that there is no right or wrong way to grieve and that there are a myriad of feelings that are normal during this time. You can receive feedback from others on difficult decisions you might be forced to make.

VMSG is devoted to the healing process through:

  • Pet Loss Support Groups
  • Education
  • Grief Workshops
  • Individual Consultations
