Born in London, Ontario, Canada, raised in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia and educated at the University of Melbourne Veterinary School, Dr Holsworth spent eight years in general practice before becoming an examined Member of the Surgery College of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 1995. Dr Holsworth moved to the US in 1999, firstly as a Surgery Fellow at Michigan State Veterinary Teaching Hospital and then to the University of California, Davis as a Surgical Resident. In 2003, Dr Holsworth commenced at VMSG and has remained at the hospital since that time. Continued professional ties with UC Davis Veterinary Orthopedic surgery department allow close cooperation on clinical research and challenging surgical cases with the university.

Dr Holsworth has presented many surgical scientific research papers and instructional lectures at national and international veterinary meetings in the USA, UK, Europe and Australia over the past 15 years. Research areas include canine cruciate ligament disease, elbow and hip dysplasia, shoulder instability and arthritis treatment. Lectured topics include shoulder, hip, elbow, and knee disease in dogs with particular focus on advanced imaging, arthroscopic assessment and surgical treatment of juvenile orthopedic disease. Dr Holsworth is a leading instructor in canine knee reconstruction and arthroscopic surgery and remains very active in veterinary continuing education around the world.

A proud father to Grace and Will, Dr Holsworth spends his down time with his children and their dogs Emily and Tascha. Favorite activities include road bike riding, mountain bike riding, hiking, cooking and traveling (with his children and bike!). A Ventura resident, Dr Holsworth loves the Ventura area, its great weather and the myriad of activities available to its residents.
