Dr. Melanie Thompson

Dr. Melanie Thompson was born in Houston, Texas but was raised in Arizona until she graduated from High School. After a short two years in Georgia, Dr. Thompson headed to Cal State Poly, Pomona to earn her Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science. From there, she attended UC Davis and graduated in 1998 from the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Thompson made quite an impression at Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group during her 1998-1999 internship. It was a busy year, working with our surgeons and internal medicine specialists along with special trips to visit her favorite mouse, Mickey, in Anaheim. Sadly, we had to bid Dr. Thompson adieu as she headed all the way north to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada for a three-year residency in Internal Medicine.

Upon the completion of her residency in the summer of 2002, she passed the ACVIM certification board examination. VMSG enticed her back as a board certified staff internist. She is interested in all aspects of general internal medicine.

Dr. Thompson now lives in Ventura along with several, special significant others: her greyhound, "Rosy," and her two cats, "Meeko" and "Whiskey." She enjoys a daily walk on the beach and watching movies. Now that she has completed all of her formal training, Melanie is looking forward to more trips to Disneyland, hiking (preferably without breaking any bones), traveling (especially to the wine country), surfing, and perhaps learning to be a gourmet chef!

VMSG is so pleased to have Dr. Thompson back in with us again. Her varied knowledge, expertise, and sense of humor is greatly appreciated.
